National Public Health Week

April 2, 2018

DANBURY, CT—The Department of Health & Human Services will be recognizing National Public Health Week 2018 from April 2nd– April 8th to lead the community in creating a healthier environment.  The theme for NPHW 2018 is, “Changing Our Future Together” and Danbury is committed to bringing communities together in order to invest in a healthier future. Each day throughout the week, we will recognize one public health topic, all of which are critical to a healthy community. NPHW Daily Themes

Monday: Behavioral Health- Advocate for & promote well-being

Tuesday: Communicable Diseases- Learn about ways to prevent disease transmission

Wednesday: Environmental Health- Help protect & maintain a healthy planet

Thursday: Injury & Violence Protection- Learn about the effects of injury & violence on health

Friday: Ensuring the Right to Health- Advocate for everyone’s right to a healthy life

The City of Danbury and the Department of Health and Human Services are proud to participate in National Public Health Week in order to fulfill our mission of maintaining a healthy environment for all Danbury residents. NPHW is a great way to take on the underlying causes of poor health and to celebrate the contributions and efforts of public health workers nationwide.

To conclude Public Health Week this Saturday, the Danbury Health Department and the Danbury Public Library will host the ‘Danbury Health & Wellness Fair’ at the Library from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
