Update included at the end of article.
Mothership Bakery & Cafe uses fresh ingredients to make their baked goods out of this world. The bakery originally operated out of a converted AirStream trailer but now serves at their indoor location at 44 Old Ridgebury Road. While they absolutely love the corporate central area they are in, Mothership hopes to make its way into Downtown Danbury soon and provide the same quality food to a whole new group of people!**
Mothership serves food with fresh, quality ingredients, and so much love! To guarantee a sandwich crafted to perfection, they bake the bread fresh every morning. Mothership also makes all of their own salad dressings and creates salad boxes that look just about as good as they taste! The soups are made from scratch and are often made from locally sourced produce. Mothership sources their ingredients from various places, always on the hunt for the freshest and best things to offer to their customers. They often team up with local farmers to bring in fresh produce and meats. Their coffee is purchased from a local roaster, Abstract Coffee, and their teas are from Harney & Sons, also a local favorite.
Mothership works hard to cater to those with food concerns and restrictions, such as gluten-free wraps and even made from scratch cookies and bars. They are also vegetarian-friendly! The Mothership chocolate chip cookie is truly the house favorite. Some might argue that their scones are the real star of the show. Often made with sweet, ripe fruit or a delectable combo of Nutella and nuts, their scones have a serious fan club. Every week, Mothership offers different soups, salad boxes, and even hot specials which have become very popular.
Besides making delicious treats, Mothership is dedicated to serving our community and supporting local businesses. Along with purchasing their coffee and teas from local sources, they also support Ann’s Place each year by participating in their Holiday Tree Festival and have even shared one of their recipes in the Ann’s Place cookbook. They also support the Jericho Partnership in downtown Danbury, providing food, services, and even hands-on volunteering whenever possible.
Serving food made from scratch is what differentiates Mothership from others. You can taste the difference! They bring all of this to the catering side of the business as well; working with the customer on creating individualized menus for each occasion. Mothership serves anything from first communions to wedding receptions, always leaving each guest with a full belly and a smile. As they say, they serve real food – with love!
