JK’s, home of the “Original Texas Hot Weiner” has been rooted in Danbury’s history for almost a century. Founded in 1924 by the Koukos family, JK’s became a popular spot for Danburians and passerby’s alike. The restaurant started on White Street, moved to West Street in 1951 and finally settled on South Street in 1974, still run to this day by the founding family.
This family restaurant is known for its famous Texas Hot Weiner. The establishment has grown a large fan club throughout the years, but it may be the hot dogs that bring new crowds. Long-time Danbury residents insist that throughout their travels, they’ve never come across anything like it.
JK’s owners have seen the same loyal patrons come to eat generation after generation. They like to think of the restaurant as a place to call home, where everyone is considered family. The traditions of this establishment still stand true to this day. Many customers have been coming for decades, while the younger patrons are creating a habit that might last a lifetime.
