The general purpose of the Civil Service Commission is to establish and maintain a uniform system based upon the merit principals. In following the Merit System rules, the City ensures current and prospective employees are judged on merit and fitness without regard to personal, political or other factors. There are three Commission members who work directly with the Civil Service Examiner.

The City of Danbury has revised the Civil Service Rules which will go into effect on Monday, October 7, 2019.  

The revised rules may be viewed online at the City of Danbury Website or copies may be obtained at the City of Danbury Human Resources/Civil Service Office.*

  • A copy fee may be assessed at that time.
