ARTHUR MURRAY DANCE STUDIO
Update – 2018
The City of Danbury’s Business Wednesdays featured Arthur Murray Dance Studio back in 2016. Since then, the studio has undergone new ownership. The new owner, Andy Cabell, has taught at the studio over the last eight years, so he is very familiar with the students, the downtown Danbury area and the message that the studio continues to convey to new students.
“Each new student is welcomed and evaluated based on their learning style and personality to determine the most beneficial curriculum. A typical dancer follows a three-tier learning process of personal lessons, group sessions and dedicated practice times. Most people come to the studio with no knowledge of dance, but the instead have a willingness to challenge themselves. All of your lessons are developed to fit your specific needs and goals, which is why there isn’t one set curriculum.
At this studio, you do not need a partner to start dancing. There are plenty of certified instructors that will guide you on your journey. There are a multitude of classic dances to study, but Arthur Murray also offers a unique teaching of “social dance survival skills.” You can come in wanting to learn how to dance at a party or at a wedding and the instructors will help you.”
When Andy took over in April, he was determined to further connect his company with the community it serves. Arthur Murray of Danbury has started donating time and energy to local charities. They have worked with A Better Chance in Ridgefield, Hillside Food Outreach in Danbury, Donate Life, and The Housatonic Valley Habitat for Humanity. They have since also donated raffle items to countless other causes. Along with Andy’s passion for using the unique skills of the staff to aid these organizations, he also aims to build a more exciting dance culture in Danbury, where he feels the social dance culture is lacking. “I would like to see local businesses come together to help give the residents of our city something new to do on the weekends, and to bring a more fun, vibrant nightlife to the Main Street area,” says Andy.
Arthur Murray Dance Studio is located at 345 Main Street. Call 203-792-0176 or book a lesson online! www.arthurmurrayofdanbury.com

The Arthur Murray studio in Danbury is not your typical dance studio; it’s a home for learning, inspiration and overall, it’s a place to have fun. Nicole Almeida has provided this franchise with a judgement-free dancing environment and a family-like atmosphere amongst students and teachers. Nicole is a second-generation owner of our Danbury studio, following in her parents’ footsteps. She was ranked as the third-best dance teacher in the world in 2006 and Danbury is certainly proud to have her!

They even go to Molly Darcy’s regularly to practice their dancing in public.
After a recent renovation, the Arthur Murray studio is now one large ballroom, allowing many lessons to happen at once and making it easier for dancers to travel. This also is a partial reason why Arthur Murray can be so flexible with your schedule.
Nicole wants people to turn to dancing as a way to connect with others because she sees dancing as a more personal way to socialize than most of today’s forms of interaction.
Some of the dancers from this studio go on to compete at Arthur Murray competitions which are held all over the world. Or you can move up in levels in the studio in Danbury to earn certificates.
