Reapportionment Advisory Board

Reapportionment Advisory Board

Government / Boards & Commissions / Reapportionment Advisory Board

Description

The US constitution requires a census to be done every 10 years and thus Danbury ward lines have to change based upon population. The committee is made up of two republicans, two democrats, and one fifth member (if agreed by all members). The Committee makes their recommendation after spending hours looking at the population shift to ensure each ward is equally represented. They then make their recommendation to council. The City Council then decides on the new ward map.
