The City of Danbury is looking for those Officers who share our same high standards and values and who have prior experience as a Regular, Full-Time Police Officer from a State or Municipal Police Department in Connecticut (Lateral) or Police Officer from outside of Connecticut (Comparative).
Please read the following requirements very carefully. Applications must be submitted with the documented certification and experience requirements listed below:
Standard Application Requirements for All Police Officers: - In-service Training Records along with the number of hours for each course for each agency of employment
- Proof of Education: Notarized High School or College University transcripts
- Copy of Operators License
- Copy of Social Security Card
Comparative Officer Applications must also include (Officers from a state or municipal Police Department outside of Connecticut) - Resume
- Transcripts from each full time Police Academy attended
- Academy Course Curriculum from each Academy attended. This is to contain the complete curriculum listing all subjects and the hours spent on each subject. Please Note: The academy requires a minimum of 680 recruit academy training hours. Also required is 2 full years (not including academy training) as a Police Officer with a Law Enforcement Agency.
Lateral Officers Applications must also include: Officers from a state or municipal Police Department in Connecticut
· Waiver from Mayor/Selectman if employed as a Certified Connecticut Police Officer with a Law Enforcement Agency for less than 2 years.
Note : Lateral Officers must have completed 2 full years of law enforcement. This does not include academy and FTO Training Time.
