Minutes from Wednesday, March 9, 2009

Meeting commenced at 7:05 P.M.

Present: Robert L. King, Peter N. Buzaid, Carlo Marano, Mary M. Cronin, Mary Comstock, Paul E. Swenson, and Joan S. Mead

Absent: Edward T. Torian

1. The Commission opened its meeting
2. The Commission accepted comments from the public:

Joel Brooke spoke thanking the Commission for its work.

Lynn Waller spoke about vacancies on the Council has not being a problem in the past and she mentioned the difficulties of getting a political independent on the Council.

            No other input from the public was offered and the commission moved on to its meeting after hearing from the Hon. Mark Boughton, Mayor who expressed his gratitude to the Commission for its work on the Charter and thanked the Commission’s Counsel, Eric Gottschalk, for his hard work and input.

3. The Commission then began its meeting with comments from Chairman Marano to the members of the Commission and to Counsel for their work on the Charter. 
4. The Commission voted unanimously to change the title “Administrative Assistant” to “Chief of Staff.” in §4-2.
5. The Commission discussed and approved by a unanimous vote the final report and summary prepared by Counsel.
6. The Commission discussed the language contained in an enclosure letter to the Council.

The Commission was addressed by its Counsel, Eric Gottschalk, on the history of the Charter, his long time acquaintance with the Charter and our work on the Charter.

The Commission adjourned its final meeting at 7:45PM.
